Hi, Iā€™m Adelle, a ceramic artist deeply committed to crafting beautiful, sustainable pottery that aligns with my passion for caring for our environment.

My work is a reflection of my belief that art, sustainability and our health go hand in hand and using mindfully made pieces of pottery can be infused into our everyday to create change, for our wellbeing and our planet.

Every piece I create is designed with a deep respect of the earth. I purchase Australian clays only and where possible (primarily), use reclaimed clay that I source from other potters to reduce waste. Rainwater is collected and used to clean pottery tools and glaze matter is reduced, sifted, dried and reused so that it is not being emptied into a sink and into our precious waterways (especially here in Nambour where we have our resident, famed platypus).

I am currently delving into the process of natural glaze making, sgraffito and decorating slip and have consciously transitioned away from commercially made glazes to reduce milage on products and the impacts of mining minerals.

Through my arts practice, I create pieces that inspire a different way of thinking when it comes to ceramics. I wish to inspire others to consider the impact of their creative processes as well as their daily choices and how they can feel when they do and how the planet can benefit. We are all interlinked.

Every piece created within the Ayr Ceramics studio is created with this philosophy, and I am passionate about continuing to ensure my arts practice is sustainable.
